Pakistan focusing on economic diplomacy for economic stabilization: FM

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says consistent efforts are being made for economic stabilization of the country by utilizing economic diplomacy. 

He was talking to Chairman Board of Investment Muhammad Azfar Ahsan in Islamabad on Monday.

The Foreign Minister said our ambassadors are drawing the attention of the international community to the business opportunities available in Pakistan through economic diplomacy in light of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Qureshi meets BoI chief, vows support to efforts aimed at achieving economic goals

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi met Chairman Board of Investment (BOI) Mohammad Azfar Ahsan on Monday and assured him that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will render all possible assistance to achieve the economic agenda of the government and meet the economic goals.

According to a statement issued by Qureshi’s media team, Secretary BOI Fareena Mazhar and other senior officials of the BOI were also present during the meeting.

The BOI leadership sensitized the ambassador about Pakistan’s liberal investment regime and the incumbent government’s commitment towards investment promotion.

Telecom giant Ericsson invested Rs5.52 bn in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Ericsson, global telecom giant,has invested US $31 million (Rs5.52 billion) foreign direct investment in Pakistan, says a press release issued on Saturday.

In a meeting with Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Fadi Pharaon Head of Middle East & Africa Ericsson, Ekow Nelson Head of Customer Unit Etisalat & Pakistan & country Manager Pakistan Aamir Ahsan Khan mentioned that Ericsson is keen in regaining the radio foot print in the strategic market like Pakistan.

Pakistan offers permanent residency scheme for rich foreigners

PAKISTAN has decided to offer a permanent residency scheme for wealthy foreign nationals, including Sikhs living in the US and Canada, to attract investments, it emerged on Saturday (15).

Information minister Fawad Chaudhry through an overnight tweet announced that the new scheme was in line with the new National Security Policy, which was formally launched by prime minister Imran Khan on Friday (14).
